“This reading challenge dedicated to helping you knock those backlist books off your ever-growing to read stack. Any genre, any format, any length.
What is a “backlist” book, you may ask? This is any book that has already been released. For the purposes of this challenge, this is any book published in 2018 or earlier. If you have books on your TBR from 2018 and before, then this is the challenge for you.”
I am joining in the normal Beat the Backlist as well as the Hogwarts Mini Challenge where you enter in the books you’ve read throughout the year and you get points for your house. I am most certainly Hufflepuff.
Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a WONDERFUL New Year’s Eve! Can you believe it?!?!? 2017 is almost over. Seriously. For me, in about 13 hours 2017 will be a thing of the past and 2018 will be a shiny New Year full of possibilities and LOTS of reading.
If you haven’t seen my latest video on my YouTube channel, MASSIVE UNHAUL, I unhauled a lot of books that were on my TBR shelves. I know that some people love having their bookshelves bursting with all of these potential adventures, and that it great for them. AS for me, I really don’t like owning books that I am not really going to read or I am not going to reread.
I knew that I wanted to do the Beat The Backlist when I saw it on another youtuber’s channel, I don’t remember who though. I looked at my TBR shelf and started purging. I started asking myself: What was I really going to read? What are my goals for 2018? Do I really want to read these hyped books for me or because they are popular right now?
I realized that a lot of the books that I hauled this year were books that were hyped and popular on youtube and blogs. They weren’t books that I was genuinely interested in. I am a Cozy Mystery reader. I am a fantasy reader. I love these types of books. So, I unhauled all of these books and traded them in at my local Used Bookstore. It was a huge relief! I felt a tremendous weight lift off of me shoulders!
I went through my TBR shelf on my Goodreads and I narrowed my list to 58 books. A lot of which are Cozies! Of course! Which is perfect for my goal of reading 52 Cozies this year! I filled out the form for Beat the Backlist and I am on team #deweydragons!
I am super excited for this! This is just the push I needed to reevaluate my TBR shelves and really focus on the types of books I want to read in 2018. Below are the books that are currently on my TBR List on Goodreads. Are you reading any of these books? Let me know!
